Straight to the market

We promote the growth of the invested startups, leading them to hit the market successfully. By investing exclusively in Biotechnology and Life Sciences companies, which can come from any region of Brazil or even from other countries, BiotechTown develops actions that consider the specificities of the segment: technological development, increased maturation time (which involves research, validation and production), regulatory aspects, market intelligence and attracting public and private resources.

Through the participation in the BiotechTown Business Development Program, entrepreneurs have access to training and mentoring related to management, professionalization of the company, establishment of milestones and drivers of growth.

BiotechTown promotes connections that are crucial to business success, putting the company in contact with first customers for product validation and investor prospecting.

The entrepreneur is guided by a team that works hands-on with support to reach national and international markets, as well as access to a complete coworking infrastructure, Open Lab and Production Laboratory (CMO). The Business Development Program has its own methodology, validated and customized according to the needs of each startup.

When selected, the entrepreneur participates in a unique program – lasting 12 months – and receives an investment between R$150,000 and R$300,000 to develop his/her business, according to the rules of the Call. BiotechTown exits itself from the investment in a planned way, without harming the development of the business.

In the beggining of the program, the entrepreneur stays in contact with BiotechTown’s network of managers and partners, accessing special content and intensive activities that inspire and provide technical support for the preparation and development of his/her business plan.

Among the content of training, entrepreneurs have access to topics such as:

  • Strategy and attraction of investment;
  • Intelligence and sales optimization;
  • Support in regulation;
  • Validation of product or business model;
  • Connection with potential customers;
  • Sales strategy;
  • Laboratory and productive infrastructure;
  • Connection with mentors;
  • Product development;
  • Market and customer studies;
  • Managerial and leadership training;
  • Support in intellectual property;
  • Strategies for attracting credit;
  • Legal advice;
  • Recruiting and optimization of the team.

The preparation of the Business Development Plan is the final product of this first stage of the program, which considers the planning of team, technology and product, marketing and market, and the investment allocation plan (funding).

The entrepreneur has access to tools for the development of complete roadmaps, and the disbursement of resources is conditioned to action plans and goals established in partnership with BiotechTown.

It is worth remembering that, once the startups are in bioSPRINT, they receive a contract with the equity (which can vary) and the investment from BiotechTown. At the end of the first stage of the program, the startup has the option to terminate the participation in the program. In the same way, BiotechTown can withdraw the company. This resolution is provided in the contract.

For 11 months, they have close contact with the BiotechTown team receiving management guidance to make the business grow.

Each week of face-to-face meeting (for execution, content, mentoring and meetings) is followed by three weeks of remote monitoring of individual activities and checkpoints, done by email, telephone and video conference.

This stage of the program aims to build a macro view of the business, reducing uncertainties, overcoming blockages and pointing out development paths from the initial diagnosis.

The strategies are discussed collectively by a multidisciplinary team with market experiences that complement each other. It involves activities such as balance sheets, cash flow and financial projections, among many others. The idea is that, at the end of this phase, companies achieve the results projected in the Business Development Plan.
